Nickel Foam for Electrochemical Materials and Custom Parts
Nickel foam is an open-cell metal structure used as a substrate or porous support in battery-electrode research, catalyst coating and electrochemical projects. Select the material and geometry for your operating conditions rather than choosing by PPI alone. HuiRui supports custom dimensions and cut shapes, with the final specification confirmed in the quotation.
Specify Your Nickel Foam
- Material: state the nickel grade or composition required. Pure nickel foam and iron-nickel foam are different materials; they should not be treated as interchangeable.
- Pore structure: provide the target PPI, or a reference sample and pore-size requirement. PPI means pores per inch, not woven-wire mesh count. It does not define one exact pore diameter.
- Thickness: state the target thickness, tolerance and whether it is measured before or after compression. Include any assembly compression requirement.
- Areal mass: specify mass per unit area in g/m² if it is critical to your design. PPI and thickness alone do not fully describe the amount of nickel.
- Dimensions and shape: give length × width for sheets, diameter for discs, or a dimensioned drawing for cut parts. Include edge, flatness and dimensional tolerance requirements.
- Surface and documentation: identify any cleaning, coating compatibility or inspection requirements. Confirm available material and test documentation for the quoted product.
For an early-stage research project, tell us which parameters are still undecided. We can discuss a sample specification for evaluation; sample availability, pricing, feasible tolerances and lead time are confirmed individually.
Choose the Right Product Form
- Custom-cut nickel foam for drawings and shaped pieces.
- Cylindrical nickel foam for projects defined by diameter and axial length.
- Thick nickel foam for thicker structures; confirm the required grade and pore structure.
- Iron-nickel foam when an Fe-Ni composition is specified.
- Nickel fiber felt and nickel mesh are different structures, not direct substitutes for open-cell foam.
Application and Evaluation Notes
For battery current collectors and catalyst supports, tell us the coating process, electrode dimensions and handling requirements. For electrolysis or fluid-flow projects, include the electrolyte or medium, temperature and mechanical conditions. Conductivity, corrosion behaviour, pressure drop and service life depend on the selected material and actual operating conditions; validate suitability in your own test setup.

Nickel Foam Questions
Can you supply custom sizes?
Send your drawing or target dimensions, PPI, thickness and material requirement. We will review the combination and confirm what can be supplied; not every combination is available as a standard item.
Is PPI enough to compare two samples?
No. Compare material, thickness, areal mass, pore structure and measurement conditions as well. Ask for a representative sample when your application depends on coating, compression or flow behaviour.
How do I request a sample or quotation?
Send the specification or drawing, application and requested sample or production quantity using the inquiry form. Research quantities are welcome for review. Do not assume a universal minimum order or fixed delivery time across all specifications.
