Nickel Fiber Felt: Choose the Structure for Your Project
Nickel fiber felt, also called nickel felt or nickel-fiber media, is a porous sheet formed from nickel fibers. Its fiber network is different from the open-cell structure of nickel foam and the regular wire openings of woven nickel mesh. Choose the material form first, then agree the dimensions and acceptance requirements.
Specification Information for a Quotation
- Material: nickel fiber felt. State any required nickel grade or material documentation.
- Thickness: provide your target thickness and tolerance, including whether thickness is measured freely or under a specified compression load.
- Porosity: State your target; the final thickness, porosity and manufacturing combination must be confirmed together.
- Dimensions: provide sheet length and width, or a drawing for a cut shape, with units and quantity.
- Other requirements: include areal weight, surface condition, coating or inspection requirements if they are part of your design.
These are quotation inputs, not a guarantee that every parameter combination is interchangeable. Availability, tolerances and sample details are confirmed for the selected specification.
Felt, Foam or Woven Nickel Mesh?
- Fiber felt: select this page when your drawing calls for a porous nickel-fiber sheet.
- Open-cell foam: compare nickel foam when the design specifies a cellular structure or PPI.
- Woven wire: compare fine woven nickel wire mesh when the design specifies mesh count, wire diameter and a regular aperture.
For electrochemical evaluation, include the electrolyte, temperature and intended role of the material. Compatibility and performance depend on the complete operating conditions and should be assessed for the project rather than inferred from the product name.
Custom Sizes and Samples
Send the required dimensions, quantity and drawing for review. For a trial, tell us what you need to evaluate so that the sample specification can be agreed before supply. Sample availability, charges and dispatch timing are confirmed in the quotation.
Nickel Fiber Felt Questions
Is nickel felt the same as nickel foam?
No. Felt uses a fiber network; foam uses a cellular structure. A foam PPI value is not a direct specification for felt.
Can I specify both thickness and porosity?
Yes. Please provide both targets and any compression conditions. We review them together and identify any limitations before confirming the quotation.
What should I send for a custom piece?
Send a dimensioned drawing or length and width, target thickness, porosity, quantity and intended use. State critical tolerances and the measurement method where relevant.
Can you provide inspection information?
State the records or test methods your project requires. We will confirm what can be supplied for the proposed material rather than assume that a particular certificate or test is included.
